The Other Photographer...

Yes, there's another photographer in my house. It's my brother. Phil is the best brother a girl could ask for. He's athletic, funny, and on fire for God. Unfortunately he's as competitive as they get, and that includes the area photography. It's only become a recent thing for him, but I'm feeling the need to get more advanced before he takes over my camera.

These were all his photos, now you can see why I would need to fear for possession of the camera.

See you soon!

A Peek into the Past...

Well, a peek into the past of my town I should say. My quaint little town is filled with the local barber, a coffeehouse, an old furniture store, a bank and even a library. The little town has a population of almost 520 people, 1/4 of which are mostly Amish (which isn't good for the photographer in me :) I love the village, especially after being away at college for so long. Also in the village are two cemeteries...stay with me...I know a lot of people find walking through, or even going to a cemetery slightly on the scary side. But for some reason I find it relaxing and peaceful. It's probably the crazy side of me. But, I find it fun and interesting to walk through one and look at all of the old tombstones seeing who lived before you and find out what there names were and what they did. I'm a huge ancestry geek, so as soon as I got home I was Googling most of the names I had found. Here's just a few of the pictures I took on my little adventure with mom.

There were so many graves of soldiers that had fought in wars. We even found one dating back to the Revolutionary War.

Hope to see you soon!

Why?

Well, despite the fact that I think I need to add more to my plate for the summer, I thought that a blog might be a fun way for me to display my photos and spill some of my thoughts. Why The Owl and The Key though?? One reason is that they are two of my favorite things. Owls are so cute, I have them in my jewelry, my phone, and my computer. Even one of my favorite movies has to do with owls. One of my other favorite things are keys. I have always been fascinated by them. The old, ornate, and vintage kind are my favorite. Also, the name is somewhat of a spin off of my favorite book, The Hawk and The Jewel by Lori Wick. So, with all of that said, I really don't have a set purpose for my blog. Just a little something for me to add to do while I'm at home for the summer. Bare with me as I get the blog up and running.

See you soon! <3
